Big Hand Team

Mick Seddon

Mick Seddon
Director

As an accountant with three decades of experience under his belt, it’s pretty fair to say that Mick has collated a considerable wealth of financial knowledge over the years. Above all, his specialty is collaborating with business owners and helping businesses to grow. One of his biggest successes came from leading a buyout of an organisation and driving it from the brink of financial disaster to becoming the UK’s top accountancy firm of the year within a decade. Expertise he takes to every client he works alongside.

He’s proud to hold the record for the fastest ever filing for the end of year accounts in the UK. Day-to-day Mick manages the running of the business and works hands-on with clients to keep their financial affairs in order and strive towards their business goals. Outside of work, he is passionate about sport. His love of rugby has switched over the years from playing to watching; something that keeps him sane when he’s not busy saving the world!

Hannah Priestley
Operations Director

As the other half of the dynamic duo that initially made up Big Hand, Hannah has worked alongside Mick for over ten years. As operations director, Hannah is the conductor that keeps the business running harmoniously. Between working on the client accounts herself, or delegating to the appropriate member of the team, Hannah ensures that high levels of care are put into each and every accountancy client. Outside of the office, Hannah loves keeping fit with her dogs and horse, and loves meals out with friends and family.

Samantha Taylor
Accountant

Sam is part of our accounts team and keeps the bookkeeping for our clients under control.  Having recently finished her Undergraduate and Masters degree in accountancy, Sam is working to develop her experience as part of our team. Despite declaring herself as having “no life outside of work and being a mum”, Sam never fails to make our team laugh in our virtual meetings. A proud Welsh woman, avid rugby fan, and begrudging cat mum, as all dog people would be, she also spends many moments engaging with Mick in the great battle of Wales V England.

Mark Simpson
Tax Champion

Mark is the oldest member of The Green Accountant team but is determined to stamp out ageist stereotyping on green attitudes. He has spent 35+ years specialising in tax, and so can identify those supposedly innovative tax changes that have been tried decades ago. His mission in life is to avoid driving his car on company business (successfully since mid-April 2022, when he joined) and he has been politely described by a former colleague as a ‘tram nerd’ – he has been called worse, usually by close family members.

When not doing tax, Mark works for the NHS as an autism peer mentor and United Response as an autism trainer as well as running an autism support group. When being particularly autistic Mark commentates on internet radio and does live website updates (not at the same time) for his beloved Altrincham FC, whilst he also enjoys challenging his millennial daughter at tennis and badminton on a regular basis.

You will have to ask him in person why he describes himself as “sad and ugly”.”
